Thinking about volunteering to share your experience with tomorrow’s tourism leaders!

Did you know that twelve, of the 23 schools in our California State University system offer programs and degrees which will directly influence our industry? Each of us has built a career in the tourism industry, some spanning as many as 30 and even 40 years. Have you ever asked yourself “What can I do with all this knowledge and experience that I have gained working in this fun and entertaining industry?”

Sharing your knowledge and experience with tomorrow’s tourism leaders by:

• Speaking to their class on industry related topics,
• Hosting a site tour of your facility,
• Offering internship opportunities,
• Offering job shadow for a day,
• Providing one-on-one mentoring,
• Posting job opportunities to fill part-time and full-time openings,

As CalTIA members, each of us has the opportunity to take a leadership role in working with our universities, and the students, to provide the information, and skills they will need to graduate with a degree, and ultimately land a job in our industry. To assist the CSU system, and the department faculty, we are compiling a resource list that faculty and students can refer to, to build their lesson plans and expand their opportunities.
